Nikon / Setting Examples

Below are the examples of the setting according to our examinations.
Please refer to these examples if you cannot find your device. We hope you will find these useful.

>Mirrorless Camera, APS-C, Z mount

APS-C devices such as Z fc, Z 50, Z 30

[NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR]
Focal Length: 24mm (35mm equivalent:36mm)
Soratama Extension tube length: 55mm(5mm+10mm+20mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 12mm (digital close-up ring)
Step-up ring: 46-72mm
Remarks: Compact and easy-to-use system.


>DSLR Camera, full-frame, F mount

Full-size cameras such as D5, Df, D850, D610

[Ai AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF]
Focal Length: 38mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 30mm(10mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 36mm (digital close-up ring)
Step-up ring: No need
Remarks: Because the diameter of the lens is 72mm, there is no need of step-up ring.

[AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED]
Focal Length: 25mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 20mm
Macro Extension Tube: 32mm (digital close-up ring,12mm+20mm)
Step-down ring: 77-72mm
Remarks: The Soratama extension tube can be adjusted from 20-40mm.

[AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED]
Focal Length: 50mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 20mm
Macro Extension Tube: 36mm(デジタル接写リング)
Step-up ring:67-72mm
Remarks: There is no need of the “Extension Tube72” because the camera can get focused when the Soratama Extension Tube’s length is 20mm.

[AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED]
CANNOT BE USED.
Soratama touches the lens when bringing into focus.

[Ai AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D]
Focal Length: 24mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 25mm (5mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 32mm (12mm+20mm)
Step-up ring:52-72mm
Remarks: Very compact and recommendable.

[Ai AF Nikkor 28mm f/2.8D]
Focal Length: 28mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 35mm (5mm+10mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 32mm (12mm+20mm)
Step-up ring:52-72mm
Remarks: Very compact and recommendable.

[AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G]
Focal Length: 35mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 40mm(20mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 32mm (12mm+20mm)
Step-up ring:52-72mm
Remarks: Because this is a DX lens, switch off the “DX/FX auto switch” in the “filming range.” Also, when photographing in telephoto system, the inside of the lens tube gets reflected a little bit.

[AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G]
Focal Length: 40mm
Soratama Extension tube length: 55mm
Macro Extension Tube: No Need
Step-up ring: 52-72mm
Remarks: Although this is DX lens, there was no vignetting. Switch of the “DX/FX auto switch” in the “filming range”

[AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G]
CANNOT BE USED.
The Soratama Extension Tube gets too long.

[AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED]
Focal distance: 60mm
Soratama Extension Tube Length: 70mm or longer
Macro Extension Tube: No need
Step-up ring: 62-72mm
Note: Because it is a macro lens, macro extension tube is unnecessary. However, extension tube has to be 70mm or more, 2 sets of Soratama Extension Tube is necessary.�

>DSLR Camera, APS-C, F mount

APS-C devices such as D500, D7500, D5600, D3400

[AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G]
Focal Length: 28mm (35mm equivalent:42mm)
Soratama Extension tube length: 40mm(20mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 20mm (digital macro extension tube)
Step-up ring: 52-72mm
Remarks: The Soratama extension tube can be adjusted from 30-50mm.

Focal Length: 20mm(35mm equivalent:30mm)
Soratama Extension tube length: 25mm(5mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 12mm (digital macro extension tube)
Step-down ring: 77-72mm
Remarks: Provides sharp image and beautiful bokeh.

[Ai AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D]
Focal Length: 24mm(35mm equivalent:36mm)
Soratama Extension tube length: 45mm(5mm+20mm+20mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 12mm (digital macro extension tube)
Step-up ring: 52-72mm
Remarks: Very compact and recommendable.

Focal Length: 28mm (35mm equivalent:42mm)
Soratama Extension tube length: 50mm(20mm+30mm)
Macro Extension Tube: 20mm (digital close-up ring)
Step-up ring: 52-72mm
Remarks: Very compact and recommendable

[AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G]
The focal length is 52.5mm (35mm equivalent) and does not get focused when setting the Soratama Extension Tube at 55mm and Macro extension tube at 20mm.
However, it is possible to photograph in a distant view.

Nikon CX Format

I’ve tried using with macro extension tube, however the clear ball gets to big to get it focused.
Still searching for a better way.
